Visit the mule museum in Törbel!

Built 350 years ago, the „Ufem Biel“ building in the municipality of Törbel/VS originally served as a mule and goat stable with a barn. The property was listed as an object worthy of preservation by the cantonal monument preservation authorities in June 1999. From autumn 2020 to spring 2021, it was extensively renovated by the Swiss Mule Museum Foundation. Many thanks are due to over 40 sponsors and patrons.

Parallel to the refurbishment work, the collection of currently over 1,000 objects was entered into the AVM database and is being added to on an ongoing basis. The exhibits will be made accessible to the general public in the Mule Museum and other exhibitions. The scientific management is supervised by the curator. A specialised library with over 3000 documents complements the collection.

From 27 April 2024, an exhibition on the mule will be held Military Museum St. Luzisteig.

Mules were indispensable throughout the Alpine region until the middle of the last century and still are today in many parts of the world. This is unknown to many. The foundation wants to change this with gripping stories about and with the mules. This also includes the mule lady „Lina“. A clever mule with all facets. She met „Benny the carriage horse“. This is how one of ten short stories from „Lina and Benny“ begins. The whole thing was filmed on behalf of the logistics company Alpin Cargo and its parent company Planzer. More under «Benny & Lina».
